Seeing AI

Seeing AI is an App that can recognize and speak text detected by the smartphone camera, either in tiny snatches or full pages. It can read bar codes on grocery and other product labels, state the product name, as well as nutrition labeling, and cooking instructions. Al can name the color of clothing and other items held in front of the camera, and recognize and read cursive handwriting.

This app allows low vision individuals to be more independent by giving you access to a network of sighted volunteers. By the tap of a button, users can get connected to a sighted volunteer, who is ready to provide visual assistance for the task at hand. Assistance can be requested any time of the day, from anywhere, and it will always be free.

This App uses Horizon Smart Glasses, which are eyeglasses with a built-in camera, to basically put a human assistant into an unsighted person’s ear by beaming live-streaming footage from the glasses’ camera to the company’s agents who can then give audio instructions to the end user.

Eye Emergency Manual

This manual is designed for use by all medical, nursing and allied health clinicians in Emergency Departments across New South Wales. It provides a quick and simple guide to recognizing important signs and symptoms, and management of common eye emergencies. The app will also be of assistance in triaging patients to appropriate care within the health system. The content within this app was developed by ophthalmic and emergency clinicians of the NSW Agency for Clinical Innovation (ACI).

This app helps parents detect the appearance of white eye in pictures of their children. A white pupil can be a normal photographic effect in pictures (like red eye, but white). White eye can also be a symptom of multiple serious eye diseases such as retinoblastoma, pediatric cataract, and Coats’ disease. These diseases are often first detected by parents because the parent notices white eye in pictures of their children. This app will find pictures on your iPhone or iPad that have white eye, and will show you these pictures so that you can inspect them for yourself.
